About Us

Nova Electric is an autonomous division of Technology Dynamics, Inc. (TDI), a privately owned power supply company specializing in the design and manufacture of switch-mode power supplies, switching power supplies, high voltage power supplies and DC-DC converters. TDI acquired Nova Electric in 1990 from the Hobart Brothers conglomerate, to add its AC products to TDI’s existing line of DC power supplies. Nova Electric is a sister division to Mid-Eastern Industries, a company specializing in the design and manufacture of high-precision linear power supplies. As a whole, the company currently employs 150 professionals, of whom over 30% are engineering staff. The President of the company is a regular contributor to prominent technical conferences and journals.

Nova Electric Product Line

The current product line consists of Pure Sinewave DC-AC Inverters, True Online UPS Systems, Solid-State Frequency Converters, Rugged Portable Transformers, Power Distribution Units (PDUs,) and Maintenance Bypass Switches (MBSs.) These power sources are offered in a wide variety of standard Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) configurations, which can also be quickly customized per each customer’s unique application.

Nova Electric Research and Development

Most of Nova Electric’s research and development efforts are spent on furthering our flexible architecture designs, which are suitable for the most demanding, harsh environment applications in their standard configuration. For special applications, this flexible architecture allows for quick adaptation and customization, based on the specific requirements. This website presents mainly standard COTS DC-AC inverters, UPS systems and Frequency Converters. For a majority of applications including military, the COTS products shown do not require any modification or customization. However, the company has a vast catalog of custom designs which are not shown due to the sensitive nature of the programs we support.

Product Overview

Nova Electric’s product mix consists primarily of Pure Sine Wave DC-AC Inverters, True On-Line UPS Systems, and Solid-State Frequency Converters. These AC Sources are normally sold off the shelf or ruggedized against shock, vibration, and humidity to satisfy most military applications.
